I’ve been a lifelong fan of Halloween. My mother used to sew those Simplicity patterns of Halloween costumes for me and my siblings. We used to carry pillowcases for treat bags because those little plastic store bought bags were just too small.

As an adult I used to host a pretty good sized Halloween party every year. Those were some really fun parties! I also threw in a few murder mystery parties over the years just to keep my guests entertained. I always decorated the house, and loved scaring the neighborhood trick or treater’s every year.

Now that I am recently retired, I find myself more of a “consumer” of Halloween than an active participant. I still plan on putting out the decorations, but not getting into the elaborate setups I have done in the past. Don’t get me wrong, I still very much enjoy every aspect of this holiday, but don’t want to devote too much time and energy for setup and breakdown.
